CLOTHING WHICH TELLS A STORY.

“I only joined Salute this year. I feel so grateful to be part of this amazing community and, to me, this group feels like my family.

I have found a place where I feel I belong, doing what I love, with the most amazing and inspiring people. Salute welcomed me in and gave me the most memorable experience from the first hike together.

It’s a group built on so much respect and love for one another.”

- Jacqueline

“It all started for me in August 2021 when I got an invite to come along & join Salute for a hike & it was something I’d never done or thought of before.

Fast forward 2 years & I’ve been on numerous hikes & seen our beautiful countryside from mountain peaks that I never dreamed of & now I’m totally hooked & try to get out as often as I can.

From my first hike the support, encouragement & not forgetting fun we have as a group has been fantastic & I would encourage anyone to come along for a hike, I can guarantee you’ll have the best day

- STEPHEN

“Behind the scenes I was a going through a very difficult ordeal in my personal life and Salute came along at the most opportune time. Not only have they provided a positive outlet for me mentally, physically hiking has also been a great way to keep me active and to escape to some of the most picturesque vistas right on our doorstep.

Socially, you become a part of an elite group that provides a sense of belonging, support, and opportunities for new experiences, whilst improving social skills and reducing loneliness. The fellowship and encouragmemt has formed the most invaluable of friendships from people who were once strangers.
The traditional whisky on the summit isn’t bad either!

Salute & God Bless

- Deborah

“Found it on a friends Facebook page 1 half year ago. Turned up a stranger to 1st climb. Laugher, tears, joys of being in the place I used to dream of doing mountains…

Now it’s the reality of lifestyle
IV pushed further into fitness experience, joined the gym, got close friends who I would say I now adopted into their family lol.

Family support referrals were offered and accepted with full gratitude I now hunger for the next adventure every month ..
Diary and calendar is cramped with events so much goodness and taken on Fitness level 2 course to support bring others along who once felt like me.”

- Ruth

“Most of us have suffered grief, heartaches and even just the day to day stresses that life throws at us but Salute to me is an escape from the busy world for a while that helps me get perspective on things and come back with a clear head.

I love to listen and watch each person encouraging each other on and the determination in them to keep going.

My favourite part though is getting to the top with an sense of achievement and a reminder so to speak we can do it if we just keep going.

- JENNIFER

“Started walking wi salute in June 23 and iv completed 2 walks already! just wanna recommend it to anyone with any sorta mental health problems, depression, anxiety etc, its done me the world of good! The group itself is amazing, so friendly and welcoming! Salute! Hats off to you!”

- Emma

“Before my journey with Salute started I was in my darkest place ever and tried everything to get myself out of it. I couldn’t do it alone.

I joined Salute and it opened everything up for me, confidence back, fitness back, mentally as strong and stubborn as I was as a competitive 15 year old.

A different daddy my daughter told me, basically I got out of depression after 1 year of everything coming out of this group or through it. There’s always hope. Don’t knock it ‘til you try it!

- Rab

“Salute has shown me the importance of Trust, friendship and understanding. Has taken me out of my comfort zone, taking me places I never thought possible.

Wilson you are an inspiration putting Salute together and so generous to all. And along with Jennifer and Michael to name but a few who have helped me when the going was tough, pushing and encouraging me and Salute as a whole has given me great friends on whom I know I can rely in any situation not forgetting the laughs along the way.

Salute and God bless.
PS I also suffer from vertigo.”

- Karen

“I’ve been hiking with SALUTE for over 3 years now and can honestly say it’s been one of the best things I have ever become involved with.

In that time I have met some truly inspirational and motivated people. The camaraderie amongst the group makes the hiking trips something special and an occasion to look forward to.

The fact that the group summits mountians is an extra bonus as a day spent in the outdoors with like minded people encouraging eachother is an experience like no other!

- "Kinners" (Thomas)

“I started walking with SALUTE in March 2022. I had lost my dad to dementia and altzimers the previous December and life was very difficult in so many ways. Depression was hanging over me and my mood was very low. My good friend Rodney Bishop invited me for a walk with the group, knowing I liked to spend time in the Mournes. Slieve Bernagh on that day was a very difficult walk for me.

I didn’t want to be with people, especially strangers and I didn’t want them to know I was struggling with my mental health. What a great bunch of real folks I met, so encouraging and motivational, but real and honest people who had a lot more experience in life than me. Walking with Salute over the past year has been fabulous, getting out in the fresh air, challenging myself, enjoying nature and most of all having some great craic with Salute crew has definitely been food for my soul and a huge part in my recovery from the darkness. Wilson Morrison is a born leader with an amazing dream which I’m fully bought into and I know I will love being part of seeing Salute flourish in future years.”
